Happy Friday! This is another tag I saw on Danni (@ForBooksSake)’s blog. Again, I’ve not been tagged, but it looked like good fun, so I’m gonna give it a go! It looks like a fun way for you to get to know a bit more about me.
1 – What do you like about buying new books?
I’m a sucker for rearranging my bookshelves, and given how packed they are, that’s something I need to do after every book haul!
2 – How often do you buy new books?
Recently, I’ve been trying to cut back! With COVID and not being able to pop into the bookstore and pick up something new, I have been buying less. I usually buy something each month for book club reads, and then treat myself every so often to a physical haul!
3 – Bookstore or online book shopping: which do you prefer?
Oh, bookstore for sure! I find it easier to discover new titles in the store where options are more curated than online. Also just the environment of being in the bookstore, surrounded by other book lovers is something I love.
4 – Do you have a favourite bookshop?
I’m actually writing a whole post about this soon! One of my favourites is Toppings & Co in Bath. They’re moving to a new store soon and I’m so excited to visit their new site when travel is possible.
5 – Do you pre-order books?
Not really. I have so many backlist books on my TBR that I tend to focus on those, and wait for new releases to have been out for a while so I can read the reviews and decide if it’s definitely for me before I purchase.
6 – Do you have a monthly buying limit?
No, but I tend to buy fewer than 5 per month, with most months being only one or two! I’m really trying to get my owned TBR right down.
7 – How big is your wishlist?
According to GoodReads, it’s 123 books. I try to keep that fairly up-to-date, so I guess that’s probably an accurate number!
8 – Which three books from your wishlist do you wish to own right now?
I mean, I want all of them! I’m going to pick ones from authors I already know that I enjoy:
An Artist of the Floating World – Kazuo Ishiguro
Night Photograph – Lavinia Greenlaw
The Temporary – Rachel Cusk
Anyone reading this!
