Fellowship of the Ring tag

Happy Friday everyone! Today I’m bringing you the Fellowship of the Ring Book Tag. I was tagged by the lovely Danni @ ForBooksSake, so please check out her blog if you haven’t already!

The Fellowship …

Gandalf – A book that taught you something

I’m going with Republic by Plato! I’m not sure what exactly it taught me, but I definitely did a lot of thinking.

Frodo – A book that left a mark on you

Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston is one I’ve read recently that immediately came to mind!

Legolas – A book you finished in one sitting

There haven’t been any for quite a while, because I don’t tend to have big chunks of time to sit and read anymore. I read Missing by Alison Moore in just a couple of sittings though!

Gimli – A book that features an unlikely friendship

I’m going with the friendship between Julian and Ava in Exciting Times. Their almost-but-not-quite relationship is really interesting to me, and not a common type of relationship!

Merry – A book that pleasantly surprised you

I feel like I’ve been unpleasantly surprised more, to be honest! Maybe I’ll go with Why Marx Was Right by Terry Eagleton, because it was surprisingly readable, which is always good for nonfiction books.

Pippin – A book that made you laugh

Maybe a rogue choice, but Plato’s Republic! In places it was very funny, if mainly due to how over the top it all was.

Boromir – A book/series that you think ended too soon

I feel like I’ve said this about a few books recently. I wish that The Wedding of Zein had been longer, just because what was there was so well-written and funny!

Sam – A book with memorable side characters who stole the show

I’m struggling with this one, I’ll admit. I like a character driven novel, so there are a lot of potential options. I think I’ll go for Klara and the Sun, because Josie’s mum was such an interesting character.

Aragorn – A good book with a bad/average cover

I have to admit, I like most of the covers I have on my shelves! I do try to get nice editions. I’m not the biggest fan of the cover of my copy of Pride and Prejudice though. Does anyone know of any pretty editions?

Gollum – A book that had great potential but disappointed you in the end

Missing by Alison Moore! It had a great premise, and could’ve been a brilliant thriller if it had been expanded and the themes and events dived into in more depth.

  1. This is such a lovely book tag idea. I am a giant Lord of the Rings fan so made the concept even more cool for me and I found myself wondering what I would put for each one. I may do a blog on it (crediting you of course).
