What I’ve Learnt in a Year of Lockdown

At this point, it’s been 13 months since the UK’s first national lockdown was announced. It somehow seems like much longer, and not that long at all, anyone else feel that? Thanks to the breakthroughs with the vaccine, and a pretty fast-paced vaccination program, it does now look like we’re on our way out of the dark. Of course, the UK is extremely privileged to have such vaccine access, and I know that the rest of the world isn’t necessarily in the same position as the UK right now. Rather than getting too optimistic and looking to the future, I wanted to talk about the things I’ve learnt in the last year of the pandemic.

Hello Running, My Old Frenemy…

You may remember, if you’ve been reading my blog for a long time, that last year I did the Couch to 5K program. I did really enjoy the program and it really boosted both my physical health and my self-confidence, but once I started work in September I lost steam. For a while I managed to go for a run after work sometimes, but I felt like that was eating into a lot of my free time and I felt like I needed to adapt to working full time before I went back to it. And then once I had adapted to working full time, the evenings were darker and colder, and I made the decision to put it off until spring. Now spring is here, there are no more excuses, so here goes..

Make Mother’s Day 2021 Special!

If you live in the UK, then Mother’s Day is coming up. It may be the case that you usually take your mum out for a nice meal at the local pub, but obviously things will be different this year! In this post, I’m going to share with you some ideas that you can make happen whether or not you’ll be able to see your mum in person. Obviously if you live together or you’re in a support bubble, then you will be able to see your mum on Mother’s Day (yay!). If this isn’t the case, it may be a virtual Mother’s Day (depending on whether restrictions change).
